Wolfe Tones in concert

ALBANY - On Friday, June 29, the Irish folk legends, The Wolfe Tones, will appear in concert at the Capital District Irish American Center.

Performing for nearly 40 years, these legendary Dublin balladeers continue to be one of Irelands biggest box office attractions, selling out at prestigous venues across Ireland, the UK, mailand Europe, and the U.S.

Tikets are $30 and tables of ten are available. Pub and kitchen opens at 5p.

President Theodore Roosevelt impersonator to perform at Saratoga & North Creek Railway

A nationally-renowned President Theodore Roosevelt impersonator will visit the Saratoga & North Creek Railway on Saturday, May 19 at 2 p.m.

Impersonator Joe Wiegand will visit the railway and perform an event that will be free and open to the public. Wiegand will portray President Roosevelt on the platform of the railway’s North Creek depot. The railway is the same station where the president boarded a train to becoming the 26th president of the United States following the assassination of President McKinley in 1901.

“Saratoga & North Creek Railway is thrilled to host Joe Wiegand’s outstanding reprisal of such a historic and beloved figure in our nation’s history,” said Saratoga & North Creek Railway General Manager Steve Torrico in a statement. “Wiegand’s depth of knowledge about the personal anecdotes in Roosevelt's life will certainly make the audience feel as though they are truly in the presence of Teddy himself.”

Co-Founder of Tribeca Film Fest to speak at UAlbany

ALBANY - On Thursday, May 3, Craig M. Hatkoff will be speaking at a town hall meeting about expanded film production opportunities in the Capital Region.

Hatkoff, an Albany native, -will be focusing on the the impact of film production as a sustainable economic driver on the Capital Region economy.

Flogging Molly to perform

Flogging Molly to perform

ALBANY - On Saturday, June 16, the Celtic Punk band Flogging Molly will perform at the Palace Theatre.

Tickets are $24.50 and $29.50 and will go on sale May 4.

The concert will be at 8p.

Blues competition to be held in Downtown Albany

ALBANY - On Friday, May 4, 13 blues acts will perform in various Downtown Albany Locations in a competition to determine who will perform at this years Live@ 5 Blues Night.

The bands will be performing from 5-9p. Spectators will vote.

The event is free and open to everyone.

Spring Open House announced for The Shirt Factory Artists Association

The Shirt Factory Artist’s Association announced its Spring Open House on Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6. The events will begin at 10 a.m. and go until 5 p.m.

According to a statement, The Shirt Factory is a community of Artists, Craftspeople, Healers and Professionals located in an historic factory building on the corner of Lawrence and Cooper Streets in Glens Falls.

'Focus on Nature XII' to be displayed at NYS Museum

'Focus on Nature XII' to be displayed at NYS Museum

“Focus on Nature XII” will be on display at the New York State Museum beginning April 28 through Dec. 31, 2012.

The exhibit will feature natural and cultural history illustrations that include artwork from around the world. “Focus on Nature XII” is a juried exhibit with artists who depict biological, geological and archeological subjects.

The pieces were selected because of scientific accuracy, technical skill, aesthetic qualities and originality. The exhibit includes 72 artists from 14 different countries.
