State Parks Saratoga to Host a Geocache Challenge

 

SARATOGA SPRINGS - The Saratoga/Capital District Region of New York State Parks is hosting a geocache challenge.

Geocaching is an outdoor sporting activity in which the participants use a GPS or alternative mobile device and basic navigational techniques to find hidden outdoor containers, called geocaches.

The challenge begins on Memorial Day Weekend and extends through Veteran’s Day, November 11th.

Geocache passports can be picked up at the office of any participating park or site, or downloaded from the agency’s webpage here.

SCHUYLERVILLE - Army National Guard Pvt. Ramon J. Rodriguez has graduated from One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo., which included basic military training and advanced individual training (AIT).

During basic military training, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons qualification, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army doctrine, history, principles and traditions.

HUDSON FALLS - Air Force Airman Anthony E. Downs graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Downs is the son of Laura Downs of John Street, Hudson Falls.

He is a 2012 graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

HUDSON FALLS - Air Force Airman Matthew C. Huguley graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Huguley is the son of Albert and Mary Huguley of Elm Street, Hudson Falls.

He is a 2011 graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

WHITEHALL - Air Force Airman Ryan J. Pinkowski graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Pinkowski is the son of Debra Robinson of County Route 2, Putnam, and Joseph Pinkowski of County Route 12, Whitehall.

He is a 2005 graduate of Whitehall High School.

GLENS FALLS - Army Reserve Pvt. Melanie J. Ganter has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Ganter is the daughter of Michele Ganter of Kings Road, Corinth, and niece of Janice Ganter of Western Avenue, Glens Falls.

She is a 2011 graduate of Glens Falls High School.

CLEMONS - Air Force Airman Curt R. Thompson graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Thompson is the son of Robert and Lydia Thompson of Maple Acres Way, Clemons.

He is a 2010 graduate of Whitehall Central School.
